Charlton, 74, of Berlin died March 21, 1997, in Georgetown, S.C. Born April 18, 1922, in Elkins, W.Va. Daughter of Fred and Bessie (Carr) Smith. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Jason; daughter, Shirley; son, Wade; brothers: Burley and Brady Smith, and sister Marie Smith. Survived by these children: Raymond, married to the former Sandra Yoder; JoAnn Burkett, and Peggy, married to George Ingrodi, all of Berlin; Ronald, married to the former Bonnie Necaise; and Ernest "Terry," both of Georgetown, S.C.; Allan James, married to the former Pandora Stevens, Manning, S.C.; and Cindy, married to Clay Morocco, Somerset; 17 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Sister of Mary Sager and Hazel Canavan, both of Somerset; Robert Smith, Chardon, Ohio; Edith Dove, Berlin, and Thelma Dick, Keyser, W.Va. Member of Berlin Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. Family received friends Sunday and will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Revs. Sherman Berkey and John Ludwick.
