  HOWARD P. CHARLTON
  
  Howard P. Charlton, 85, Shaulis Road, Friedens, died April 20, 2004 at his
  residence.  Born March 23, 1919, in Westernport, Md., son of Samuel and
  Beulah (Dove) Charlton.  Preceded in death by parents and brothers, the Rev.
  Samuel and Frank Charlton.  Survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Jean
  Sarver; children: Sonny, married to the former Carol Crumb of Jerome, Bill,
  married to the former Carol Shaffer of Stoystown, Dianne, married to Don
  Rayman of Somerset, Eva married to Harvey Shaulis and Dave, married to the
  former Pam Shaulis of Friedens; 15 grandchildren and 20
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Vincent of Friedens, Fred of Indiana, Ray
  of Altoona, and Dorothy Corden of Friedens.  Retired coal miner.  Member of
  UMWA Local 1742, and Jenner Rod and Gun Club.  Family will receive friends
  from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner
  Funeral Home, Stoystown where service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday.  The
  Rev. Milton D. Herring officiating.  Interment Beulah Cemetery.  Memorial
  contributions may be given to "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N. Center Ave.,
  Somerset, Pa. 15501.
