Charlton, 62, Friedens RD 1, formerly of Boswell, died Dec. 20, 1989, in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born May 16, 1927, in Barton, Md., son of Samuel T., and Virgie (Dove) Charlton. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Frank; and an infant sister. Survived by his wife, Betty Jane Showman, and these children: Linda, wife of David Lucas, Boswell RD 1; Barry E., married to former Sharon Brant, Hollsopple RD 1; Sherry Lynn, wife of David Baronie, Stoystown RD 1, and Timothy E., at home; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and these brothers and sisters: Howard and Vincent Charlton, both of Friedens RD 1; Dorothy, wife of George Corden, Friedens RD 1; Fred, Fortsville, Ind., and Jayson Ray of Hollidaysburg; mother-in-law Edith Mowery, Somerset RD 2. He was an ordained minister in the Church of God; retired; serving 28 years in the Boswell charge; also served in Du Bois charge and was an evangelist for two years. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Co., Johnstown. Veteran of World War II. Friends received 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today at Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Boswell Church of God, the Rev. C.B. Shaal, Rev. W.A. Davis and Rev. Milton Morris officiating. Interment, Beulah Cemetery.
