  Richard L. Childs, 83, of Water Level Road, Rockwood, died Dec. 29, 1997,
  in Meyersdale Medical Center.  Born Dec. 28, 1913, in Great Falls, Mont. 
  Survived by wife, the former Elaine Romesberg, and sisters, Marian Cate,
  Manchester, N.H., and Mary, California.  Member of the United Church of
  Christ, Rockwood.  Graduate of Tufts University.  Retired in 1975 as a lab
  technician from Meyersdale Hospital.  Friends will be received from 7 to 9
  p.m. Tuesday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be
  held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Mark Bender.  Interment, IOOF Cemetery,
  Rockwood.
