Chobany, 61, of Washington, Pa., formerly of Somerset County, died unexpectantly in her home on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997. Born Dec. 30, 1935, in McClellandtown, Pa., a daughter of John and Anna Sinko Kipila. Mrs. Chobany was a graduate of German Township High School. She was employed at the Limited, located at Franklin Mall. On Nov. 1, 1958, in New Salem, Pa., she married John Chobany, who survives. Also surviving are four sons: John Chobany of Reston, Va.; Rodney Chobany of Maui, Hawaii; Matthew Chobany of Washington, and Alexander Chobany of Baltimore, Md.; two daughters: Deborah Chobany of Barnwell, S.C., and Tamara Suwak of Pittsburgh; one sister, Eleanor Yuras of Masontown, Pa.; three grandchildren: Anastasia Chobany, Christian Kanoa Chobany and Melia Chobany, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, where Parastas services will be held Friday evening at 8. Blessing services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 601 Boone Ave., Canonsburg, Pa., with the Archpriest Joseph Oleynik officiating.
