Chonko, 78, of Berlin RD 3, died April 24, 1987, at home. Born March 17, 1909, in Macdonaldton, son of John and Anna (Rusnuk) Chonko. Preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Michael and John. Survived by wife, the former Pauline Shaulis; and these children: J. Edward, Somerset RD 6; James, Fairhope RD 1; and Mrs. Charles (Patricia) Wagner, Newburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Brother of: Mrs. Wasco (Mary) Nider, Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Groft, Steven, Andrew and Susan, all of Macdonaldton; Mrs. Elija (Anna) Lantz, Painesville, Ohio; George of Missouri; and Peter of Detroit, Mich. Retired coal miner and member of U.M.W.A. Garrett. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday (today) at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home and 9 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Michael Chonko officiating.
