Chonko, 72, Berlin RD 3, (Macdonaldton), died April 17, 1988, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 22, 1915, in Macdonaldton, son of John and Anna (Rusnuk) Chonko. Preceded in death by parents; infant son; and brothers, Michael, John and Joseph. Survived by wife of 41 years, the former Helen Trulick. Brother of: Mrs. Elijah (Anna) Lantz, Painesville, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Nider, Mrs. Helen Groft, Andrew and Susan, all of Berlin RD 3; Peter, Detroit, Mich.; and George, Missouri. Formerly employed by Scurfield Coal and Snyder of Berlin. Member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Macdonaldton and the National Slovak Society. Army veteran of World War II. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, formerly the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Rev. James Bunn, Rev. Michael Chonko and Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli officiating.
