  CHOWAN
  
  Michael Chowan, Jr., 69, of Buffalo N.Y., formerly of Boswell, died Oct.
  18, 1988 at home.  Born Sept, 13, 1919 in Boswell.  Son of Michael Sr. and
  Mary (Haltun) Chowan.  Preceded in death by parents, and sisters: Susan
  Chowan, Mary Joback, Helen Girando, and Anna Capanda.  Brother of: Julia,
  wife of Mike Lengyel; and Steve, married to the former Julia Peltz, both of
  Boswell.  Also numerous nieces and nephews.  Former member of Ss. Peter and
  Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Boswell.  Member of USWA, army veteran, World
  War II, retired employee of Lackawanna Works, Bethlehem Steel Corp.  Friends
  received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St. Boswell,
  where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Very Rev. John W.
  Govrusik.  Interment, Ss. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery. 
  Parastas 7:30 p.m. Friday.
