Born July 7, 1924, in Sand Patch, son of Mary L. (Knepp) Christner of Berlin and the late Clarence C. Christner. Also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Christner. Besides his mother, also survived by his wife, the former Joan Bittner; and two sons, Terry and Gary Christner, both of Salisbury; a granddaughter, Kelly Jo Christner; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Stone, Salisbury; and one brother, Lester, Finzel, Md. He was the owner and operator of Chris' Tavern of Salisbury and a former superintendent for the Manley Sand Company of Cumberland, Md., for 23 years. He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of World War II. Member of Salisbury American Legion, D.A.V. of Meyersdale and the Meyersdale Elks, No. 1951. Friends will be received Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where funeral service will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
