Christner, 100, of Meyersdale, formerly of Somerset, died June 27, 2002 at her daughter Barbara's residence. Born June 20, 1902 in Summit Township, she was the daughter of Noah C. and Viola (Grove) Haer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jacob H. Christner (1952); children Hazel Hoover and Sprawls Christner; sister Audrey Schrock; and brothers Otto and Glenn Haer. She is survived by children, Harold married to the former Helen Haer, Garrett; Miriam Stephens, Somerset; Barbara, married to Glenn Meyers, Meyersdale; Thomas, married to the former Peggy Haer, Garrett; Arlene, married to Frank Houston, Chardon, Ohio; Mack, married to the former Bernice Suder, Meyersdale; Nancy, married to Donald Stoner, Murrysville; Mary, married to Barry Hanks, Somerset; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy, married to Oscar Steinly, Garrett; Betty, married to John Weigle, Somerset; and close friends, Dr. Thomas Strunk and family, Johnstown. Edna attended Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Garrett, and was a member of the "Over 55 Speeders Club." Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Jay Christner officiating.
