CHRISTNER George Washington Christner, 69, one of Somerset's well-known Baltimore and Ohio conductors, died at 1 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Walter of West Patriot Street, after an illness of several months. Mr. Christner retired from active service as a conductor on the Baltimore and Ohio in 1938 and has since led a retired life. He was a son of Zachariah and Magdalene (Hoover) Christner, both deceased. His wife, Emma (Rector) Christner, preceded him in death last December. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Frank Walter, Mrs. Charles Brick, Howard Christner, Melvin Christner, all of Somerset; Mrs. Ruth Weighley, Woodrow Christner and Donald Christner, all of Los Angeles, California. Woodrow Christner left California by trans-continental plane late Sunday night and arrived in Pittsburgh shortly after noon Monday. Mr. Christner was a brother of Theodore Christner of Hyndman, Wilson Christner of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Nathan Burkett of Tyrone. Funeral services were conducted at 3 Tuesday afternoon at the late home on rear South Edgewood Avenue by the Rev. Dr. George L. Roth, pastor of the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Interment was in the Somerset County Memorial Park under the direction of Charles R. Hauger, Somerset mortician. Meyersdale Republican, April 17, 1941
