Born May 11, 1921, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Sylvester and Ruth (Huston) Christner. Also preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Sam, Clyde and Jack and two sisters, Janet Sloan and Dorothy Holsopple. Survived by his wife and best friend, the former Martha Mae Wyand, to whom he was married 65 years. Devoted father to Patricia Ann Schrock, married to Dale, Somerset; Beverly Jane Buck, married to Dan, Somerset; and Bonnie Jo Christner, Somerset. Beloved grandfather to eight grandchildren: Mark, Mike and John Schrock, DaleAnn (Schrock) High, Dan and Dave Buck and Jo (Buck) Coyle and step grandson, Alex Arnold; 18 great-grandchildren. He is an Army veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific with the 50th Combat Engineers. Member of First Christian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. Also member of the National Society of the sons of the American Revolution. Life member of both the Somerset American Legion Post 181 and the VFW Post 554. Member of 55 and over Speeders. Retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. with 36 years of service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the time of service 10 a.m. Monday in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Daniel F. Nicksich and the Rev. Jay Christner officiating.
