Christner, retired farmer living in Meyersdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the Windber Hospital, at the age of 76 years, 20 days. He was born Oct. 13, 1867, in Addison Township. He is survived by his wife, Annie Hoffmeyer Christner, and the following children: Mrs. Grace Lint, Mrs. Henry Younkin and Mrs. Ernest Boden, Meyersdale; Ed Christner, Boynton; Mrs. Dan C. Specht and Mrs. D. W. Weaver, Stoystown, and Mrs. Sherman Gindlesperger, Boswell; also by 16 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Mr. Christner began his career as a tenant farmer in Elk Lick Township at which he prospered until he bought a fine dairy farm near Stoystown which he successfully operated until failing health impelled him to dispose of his farm and retire from hard work. Their children all being grown up and established in homes of their own by that time, Mr. and Mrs. Christner bought a home in Meyersdale into which they moved several years ago to spend the sunset of their lives. Seeking relief from serious illness, he entered the Windber Hospital where he succumbed after a short stay. Norman B. Christner was a sterling citizen, a good neighbor and kind husband and father. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m., at his late home on Broadway, With Rev. N. L. Wilson, Berlin, and Rev. Nelson C. Brown, Meyersdale, officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josiah Lint, John Smearman, Charles Bolden, John Clark, John Gauntz and D. H. Bauman. H. R. Konhaus has charge of funeral arrangements. Meyersdale Republican, November 4, 1943
