Born Feb. 27, 1897, in Rockwood, son of late Rufus and Susan (Marker) Christner. Preceded in death by wife, former Sadie A. Yoder, and daughter, Betty. Survived by three sons: Ray S., Jack A. and James C., all of Akron, Ohio; two daughters: Mrs. Eva M. Hotchkiss, Mogadore, Ohio; and Mrs. Janet R. Gilpin, Akron, Ohio; sister, Mrs. Vila Silvrants, Denver, Colo.; also 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Retired coal miner. Veteran of World War I. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday (today) at Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Elam C. Bender officiating.
