Christy and daughter of John and Dorcas Thomas, died at her home in Ursina, Aug. 12. Before her marriage she lived near Mt. Pleasant where her father was a Baptist minister. Moving from there to Lower Turkeyfoot Twp., she made her home with her sister, Mrs. Mae Crabtree, for many years. She was well known in Pittsburgh, Uniontown and other places, up until the last few years, when illness stopped her active life. She and her sister were always working for the good of others. While in later years they remained close at home, their interests were widespread and they were vital factors in the life of the community. Her last years were saddened by the blindness of her only living sister, Mrs. Crabtree. The utmost devotion existed between the two sisters. Her only son disappeared many years ago and if living does not know of the passing of a loving mother. She is survived by one grandson and three great-grandchildren, her sister mentioned above and one brother, Ebenezer Thomas, who made his home with his sisters. Funeral services were held at her home on Thursday afternoon, with Rev. Schindler officiating, and interment was made in the Jersey Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, August 22, 1940
