Smith of Meyersdale, died at her home in South Euclid, Ohio, July 22, 1945. Her sister, Mrs. John Harding, of Meyersdale, was with her and cared for her during her long illness. Born in Meyersdale 49 years ago, Mrs. Clabaugh had lived in her late home, Mayfield Heights, South Euclid, Ohio, since April 1925. Critically ill for many months, her brother, John I. Smith, of Jerome, Pa., and sisters, Mrs. Ruth Carter and Mrs. Helen Saylor, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Annie Harding of Meyersdale, visited her whenever and as often as they could. One sister, Mrs. Pauline Branson of Tucson, Ariz., was unable to come to see her, owing to transportation restrictions. Her son, Sgt. William Clabaugh, who was recovering from wounds received in action in the European theater of war, in Nichols Hospital, Louisville, Ky., was able to go to see her on a 15-day furlough, before she passed away. Married on New Year's Day, 1918, to Henry Lloyd Clabaugh, she is survived by her husband, the brothers and sisters and son, above mentioned, and a daughter, Eleanor, and two little grandchildren. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, the Methodist Church of South Euclid, the Blue Star Mothers of Mayfield Heights and the Suburban Garden Club. Funeral services for her were conducted by Rev. C. C. Amond, pastor of the Mayfield Methodist Church, followed by interment in Knollwood Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, August 30, 1945
