Clapper, 62, Meyersdale RD 3, died Aug. 22, 1988, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born May 12, 1926, in Meyersdale, son of the late Carl R. and Margaret (Saylor) Clapper. Survived by his wife, the former Edith Tinker; two daughters: Mrs. Susan Morris, Meadville, Pa.; and Mrs. Sally Handy, Cobleskill, N.Y.; two granddaughters: Kendra and Holly Morris. A brother of: Robert G. Clapper, Meyersdale RD 3; and Mrs. Marie Cole, New Castle, Del. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II, member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, V.F.W. Post 3504, American Legion Post 112, former member and past-president Meyersdale Lions Club, member of Masonic Lodge #554 F.&A.M., 32nd Degree Harrisburg Consistory. Founder of Clapper's Manufacturing in 1963-74, employed by Agency for International Development 1975-84, associated with Clapper's Industries from 1985 to present. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Richard Hanley officiating.
