He was born July 5, 1907, in Milford Township, the son of the late Ephriam W. and Lulu Mae (Thomas) Clay. He is survived by one son, Larry Lee Clay of Rockwood; three brothers: Charles of Rockwood, Clyde of Rockwood RD 1, and Clarence of Somerset RD 1; one sister, Nellie Clay of Somerset. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Viola (Weimer) Clay Dec. 7, 1954; two infant sons; a sister, DeElda Clay; and brothers: Glenn, Harold and Wilbur. He was a member of the: United Church of Christ, Rockwood; Rockwood I.O.O.F. Lodge; Pine Turn Hunting Camp; Laurel Rock Hunting Camp; secretary of the I.O.O.F Cemetery; a past member of the Church Consistory where he served for many years. Retired from the Western Maryland Railway System. Friends will be received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, Monday 7-9, Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 and until 10 a.m. on Wednesday when the remains will be removed to the United Church of Christ for services at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Jack Hazlett officiating. Interment, I.O.O.F Cemetery. There will be no viewing in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
