She was born July 13, 1881, in Elk Lick Township a daughter of Samuel and Clarissa (Kretchman) Thomas. She is survived by these sons: Charles W. and Harry E., both of Rockwood; Clyde E. of Rockwood RD 1; Clarence J. of Somerset RD 1; Harold R. of Garrett; one daughter, Miss Nellie L. of Somerset RD 1; one brother, Albert S. Thomas of Rockwood RD 1; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ephriam W. Clay, January, 1946, also by a daughter, DeElda M. Clay in 1944, and a son, Glen T. in 1969. Also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Rockwood. Friends will be received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and until 12 noon on Wednesday when the remains will be removed to the Messiah Lutheran Church, New Centerville, for services at 1:30 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. C.C. Moore officiating assisted by the Rev. Gregory R. Pile. Interment, Union Cemetery, New Centerville. Daily American, April 18, 1977 [C0517]
