Dent Claycomb, 81, of Ashlawn Road, Bedford, died Dec. 31, 2003, at Pennknoll Village, Everett. Born July 27, 1922, in Weyant, son of the late Dr.'s Hartley C. and Alice G. (Seberger) Claycomb, former chiropractors in the Bedford and Everett area. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean (Sill) Claycomb, sister, Jeanne Berkey, wife of Earl K. Berkey, Somerset and Phoenix, Ariz., brother, Conrad E. Claycomb, husband of Gertie (Showalter), Everett, and sister, Trudie C. Hyre, wife of E. Wayne Hyre, Bedford, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an Army veteran who served as a military policeman in both the African and Italian Theaters during World War II. After an honorable discharge, he returned home and drove for Continental Trailways Bus Line, and later in his career he drove for Continental and Eastern Truck Lines. He later became the proprietor of the New Penn West Hotel and Bar in Bedford until his retirement. He was a life member and former president of the Bedford County Sportsman's Club, a life member of the Bedford Fire Dept., Bedford American Legion Post 113, and the Bedford VFW. He loved woodworking in his home shop and was an avid deep-sea fisherman and enjoyed hunting in the Bedford County mountains. Private family services will be held at the Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford. The Rev. Robert Robertson officiating. Interment, Bedford County Memorial Park, Bedford.
