Mr. Clites had gone outside the house to mow his lawn, but had not yet started to do the job, when he fell over, dying almost instantly. He was aged 78 years, 10 months and 21 days. Mr. Clites was born in Bedford County, Pa., in the vicinity of Madley, on May 17, 1868, the son of Solomon and Mary (Sturtz) Clites. He was married to Martha J. Shirey in Bedford County in 1893, and came to Boynton about 44 years ago. He worked as a coal miner until about six years ago, when he retired. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Margaret, wife of William O'Donnell of Boynton, and Hazel, at home; five sons, George Walter of Portage, Pa.; S. Homer, Camden, Del.; John Benjamin, Shippensburg, Pa.; Edward Preston, San Mateo, Cal.; and Curtis Elwood, Friedens; two brothers, Silas and John, both of Buffalo Mills; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at his home at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10th, and again at the Lutheran Church in Madley at 2:30 p.m. Interment in the Madley cemetery in charge of Stanley M.
