Cober, 76, of Berlin, died June 25, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 4, 1924, in Pine Hill, son of Albert and Erla (Brant) Cober. Preceded in death by parents, sister Helen, brother Charles and grandson Benjamin. Survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Phyllis Saylor, and these children: William R. Jr., married to the former Kay Ann Lichvar, Berlin; Charles, married to the former Susan walker, Bernsville; Richard, married to the former Bonnie Burns, Connoquenessing; Ronald, married to the former Chung Mi Chow, Aurora, Colo.; Kirk L., married to the former Amy Sue Puffenberger, Dillsburg; and Dawn, married to Kim Bennett, Berlin. Also survived by grandchildren: Elizabeth Gillette, Christa, William John, Eric, David, Mark, Robin, Raymond, Andrew, Hope, Marieka and Zachary Cober and Anna Bennent, and brother Paul H. Cober, of New Oxford. A 1941 graduate of Berlin High School. Army veteran of the Korean War. A retired independent businessman. Member of Berlin Brethren Church and Berlin American Legion Post 445. He was a former Berlin-Brothersvalley School Board member. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Owen Preston officiating.
