"Nathan" Codispoti, 63, Front Street, Jenners, died Dec. 23, 2001 at UPMC Lee Regional. Born Jan. 27, 1938 in Jenners, son of Pasquale J. and Madeline M. (Crusco) Codispoti. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Fortunata M. "Florence" Policicchio; brothers, Domenic J. and Vincent G.; nieces, Nancy Codispoti and Antoinette Cassidy; and great-nephew, Thomas Cassidy. Survived by sister, Mildred, Wife of James Hancock, Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Angelo J., married to Jeanette Pucci, Jenners; Anthony, married to Concetta Tedesco, New York, N.Y.; and John, Montross, Va.; brother-in-law, Gregory Policicchio, Boswell; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Malatesta) Codispoti, Pittsburgh; special aunt, Catherine Crusco, who resided with Nathan; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A 1955 graduate of former J.B.J. Joint High School and served as chairman of the reunion committee. Attended University of Miami and West Texas University. Served in U.S. Air Force, with the Strategic Air Command having received numerous honors and citations. Manager of Codispoti Grocery, Jenners, founded in 1917 by his parents. He had been a sports caster for WVSC Radio, reporter for Somerset Daily American and host of the Italian Music Party on WWZE Radio. Founder of CDM Sports Radio Network. Member of Boswell Lodge 1780 Sons of Italy, founded in 1936 by his father. Served as lodge past president, vice president and financial secretary. He was a district and state trustee, headed the Dante Education Commission for the state lodge, and co-founder of the central Pennsylvania Italian Musicale program. Also member of Boswell Area Historical Society, All Saints Catholic Parish, Jenner Rod & Gun Club, Somerset County Old timers Baseball Association and Boswell Post 461 American Legion. Chairman of the Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Association Hall of Fame Committee and Hall of Fame member since 1999. Charter member of Boswell Area Jaycees, having served as president from 1968 to 1969. Also served as vice president, secretary, treasurer and chairman of the board. Permanent Jaycee director and JCI Senator 14568. Past member of North Star School Board, Jenner-Ferrellton Area Water System and the Area Home Health Agency. Honored by the American Legion with a number of awards including, induction into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and served as county, district, sectional and regional activities director. Was manager of the Boswell Bears' American Legion Term, for 15years, and manager of the Boswell Bear Cubs Team that placed fifth in the state in 1981. One of the founders of the Boswell Jaycees Basketball Tournament, where he served as director in 1967, assistant director from 1969 to 1979 and as a judge for the tournament for 12 years. Also founder of the Cambria-Somerset Senior Baseball League, Cambria-Somerset American Legion Baseball League, Turnpike American Legion Baseball League, Somerset County American Legion Jr. Baseball League, Roof Garden Wrestling Tournament and Mountain Cat Wrestling Tournament. Past director of American Legion Scouting, Region 7, and American Legion Baseball Tournament. Other honors include: Joseph H. Hoffman Memorial Community Service Award (1986), District 9 (OSIA) State Trustee for Outstanding and Loyal Service Award (1984), OSIA Certificate of Merit (1976), OSIA Certificate of Distinguished Service (1982), American Legion Certificate of Accomplishment for athletic activities (1981), Award of Merit for contributions to Somerset County Wrestling (1981), Outstanding Young Men of America (1969 and 1970), Community Leaders of America (1971-1972), Outstanding Jaycee (1966-1970), Citations from Pennsylvania Senate (1972),Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1972) and Somerset County Wrestling Coaches Award (1981). Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where SOI service Will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell. The Rev. Father Martin Breski OFM, Conv., celebrant. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
