Born Jan. 30, 1922, in Confluence, son of the late Alexander Ward and Sarah (Forquer) Coffroth. Also preceded in death by son, Leroy Jr. Survived by his wife, the former Jacqueline Baer; and these children: William Alexander, Berkley, Calif.; Kimball Rush, Fairbanks, Alaska; and Margaret Ann Brown, Seattle, Wash.; three grandsons. Brother of: James M. Coffroth, Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Hu (Louise) Blake, Knoxville, Tenn.; and Frederick F. Coffroth, Somerset. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson University, 1950. Interned at Bryn Mawr Hospital and served residency in anesthesiology at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Certified fellow in anesthesiology, American College of Anesthesiologists. He practiced in Somerset from 1953 to 1961;residency in Pittsburgh from 1961 to 1964 when he moved to Sacramento. He was a Navy gunnery officer in World War II, participating in the invasions of Leyte Gulf, Linguian Gulf and Okinawa. He served as a medical officer on Guam during the Korean War. He was a member of American Medical Assn., American Society of Anesthesiologists as well as local affiliates. An active member of the Sacramento Chapter of Sons of American Revolution, Scottish Rite Masonry and Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine in Sacramento. Life member of Legion of Honor, Jaffa Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., and also a member of the Military Order of World Wars. Board member of Sacramento Safari Club and California Wildlife Federation. Member of Faith United Methodist Church, Sacramento.
