Elizabeth 08/27/05 Daily American Mrs. F. Elizabeth Coleman, 99, formerly of West Pitt Street, Bedford, died Aug. 25, 2005, at Pennknoll Village, Snake Spring Township, Bedford County. Mrs. Coleman was born in Spruce Creek, on March 2, 1906, a the daughter of the late F. Blair and Hannah J. (Ayers) Gaffius. She was the widow of Lester S. Coleman, whom she married June 16, 1940, at Bethany Lutheran church in Altoona by the Rev. Paul L. Reaser. Lester preceded her in death February 7, 1983. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Paul (Alta) Gill and two brothers Albert Graffius and Lester Graffius and one half brother Guy Ayers. Numerous nieces and nephews survive her. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Bedford. She was an elementary school teacher at Sandy Ridge, Spruce Creek and Altoona prior to her marriage. She graduated from the Petersburg High School in 1925. She attended school at Juniata College and Indiana Normal School, graduating in 1931. She then got her Masters Degree in teaching from Penn State College now Penn State University. Elizabeth and her husband were co-owners of the Auto Accessories Store in Bedford for many years. She enjoyed all kinds of sewing and crafts and had made many quilts. Her hobby was collecting and repairing old dolls. Friends are invited to call 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. The Rev. Raymond Short officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, Somerset.
