Coleman, 75, Friedens RD 1, died unexpectedly May 1, 1980, at home. Born March 29, 1905, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, son of Harry and Ida (Bowman) Coleman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Mildred H. Griffith, who died Aug. 16, 1977; also a sister, Ethel Kaufman. Survived by these children: Edward and David, both of Greensburg; Mrs. Ruth Acker, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Hazel Benscoter, Temple City, Calif.; Mrs. Nancy Clark, Easton; Kenneth, Somerset RD 1; James, Washington, Pa.; Robert, Wilkes-Barre; William, New Brighton; Janet, Jennerstown; 20 grandchildren and a great-grandson. Lifelong member of Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church, Jenner Township. Past member of church council, former Jenner-Boswell-Jennerstown Joint School Board and Jenner Grange. Prominent retired Jenner Township farmer. Also member of AARP, Somerset County Historical and Genealogical Society and the church cemetery board. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, and until noon Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell. Body will be removed to Zion Hoffman Church to lie in state from 1 p.m. Monday until time of service at 2 p.m., the Rev, William H. Snyder officiating. Interment, church cemetery.
