The Rev. Paul Arnold will officiate. Receiving of friends by the family will be from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Coleman died at 10:50 a.m. Jan. 31, 1997, at her home. She was born March 12, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of Professor Paul Dare Coleman and Betty Carter Coleman. She is survived by her father and a brother, Peter Carter Coleman, both of Champaign, formerly of Somerset. Miss Coleman is preceded in death by her mother, maternal grandparents, Lenard M. and Eva Hartline Carter of Somerset, and paternal grandparents, Clyde R. and Katharine Livengood Coleman of Somerset. Dr. Coleman was graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1962. She attended Stanford University in 1963 while her father was a visiting professor. She returned to the University of Illinois to receive her bachelor's degree in 1969 where she earned Phi Beta Kappa honors. She earned her master's degree in 1972 and a PhD. degree in educational psychology in 1976, also at the University of Illinois. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Dr. Coleman taught psychology at Parkland College for many years, retiring in 1992. She was a devoted family member. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, water color painting, traveling, music, reading and was a member of a Bible study group.
