Leah Collins, 93, of Meyersdale, died Nov. 4, 1997, in Meyersdale Manor. Born March 18, 1904, in Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late Leigh R. and Edna (Hough) Collins. Also preceded in death by two sisters: Dorothy and Frances Collins. She was a retired teacher in the Meyersdale Area Schools, having taught for 40 years. A member of and Sunday School teacher of the Zion Lutheran Church for 50 years, and a Brownie Scout leader for 39 years. She received her baccalaureate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree from Penn State University. She also attended Hood College, Indiana State Normal School, Northwestern University, and the University of Colorado. She held membership in the Somerset County Association of Retired Teachers, the PRSEA, the PSEA and the NEA. Friends will he received from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Union Cemetery Meyersdale, with Pastor Randall Marburger officiating. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, or the Meyersdale Public Library. There will be a special remembrance of Leah at the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church Meyersdale. Daily American, November 5, 1997 [C0745]
