Collins died in the Frantz Hospital at 1 o'clock Saturday morning, following an emergency operation for strangulated hernia, performed on Thursday. Mr. Collins was born at Hyndman, Sept. 15, 1877, and was aged 54 years, 7 months and 15 days. Most of his life was spent in the Turkeyfoot region. For some years he was associated with the Confluence Builders Supply Company, and during the last twelve years he operated a gasoline filling station on Route 53 near the B. & O. culvert. During a part of this time he was also a wholesale gasoline distributor. Previous to that time he was employed by the Schofield Lumber Company at Humbert as a saw filer. About 25 years ago Mr. Collins was married to Miss Sadie Critchfield, who survives him. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Sue Collins of Springdale, and the following brothers and sisters: John Collins, Oklahoma; Edward Collins, Brownsville; Mrs. Walter Brenton and Mrs. Guy Battles, Springdale. Mr. Collins was for many years a member of the Lutheran Church, a member of Meyersdale Lodge, F.A.A.M., the Shriners and the Knights Templar. He was a kind and considerate businessman, and was a friend of every one who knew him. Funeral services were held at the family home on Page Street at 2 p.m., Monday, May 2nd, Rev. W. L. Morgan of the Confluence Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. The pallbearers were Homer C. Rush, Ralph VanSickle, Dr. T. R. Show, Dr. M. M. Brooke, Robert C. Kurtz and Edgar M. Parnell. Interment in Ursina Cemetery. Charles B. Humbert was the funeral director in charge. Meyersdale Republican, May 5, 1932
