He was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Somerset Township, son of William F. and Alda H. Hoffman Collins. Survived by wife, Theresa Collins, and children, Steven, and wife, Becky, and their children, Jennifer and Amy; Daniel (deceased) and wife, Cynthia, and their son, Jason; Debra Komick and husband, Robert, and their children, Erica, Michael and Daniel; Babette Travis and husband, Jerry, and their children, Nicholas, Sarah and Matthew; Peggy Van Asselt and husband, Mark, and their children, Douglas and Heather; Kathleen and husband, Wayne Lemme, and their children, Jessica, and Erin; and Pamela Collins. He attended the Somerset Schools and played varsity basketball, and in track did the high jump and broad jump. He graduated in 1942 and enrolled at the Gettysburg College. While there, World War II broke out and he enlisted in the Air Force. He was sent to Florida to Gainesville College to learn how to be a pilot to fly a Wild Cat Fighter plane. After a time, he developed a serious ear infection in both ears and could no longer fly. He went to Chicago and enrolled for a four-year term in the National College of Chiropractic. While there, he was in sports and served in the Administrative Commission. There he met Miss Theresa Gidstad, who later, became his wife. After graduation, they went to Davis S. Dak and bought a Chiropractic Clinic from a doctor who wished to retire. Dr. Bill and Dr. Theresa were in practice for 45 years and built a new home and reared their fine children. Funeral service was held at the West Prairie Lutheran Church and buried at the family plot.
