"Jack" Commons, 74, of Meyersdale, died Jan. 24, 1997 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Dec. 2, 1923 in Meyersdale, a son of the late John and Emma (Finegan) Commons. Also preceded in death by a daughter Jacqueline (Commons) McKinney Walker and sister, Genieve Sheehan. Survived by his wife, the former Lois Keim; daughter, Suzanne, wife of Jonathan Hylan, Fairfield, CT.; brother Harry Earl Commons, Bradenton, Fla.; three grandsons, Denny and John McKinney, and Matthew Hylan; granddaughter, Brett Hylan; great grandchildren, Joseph and Kristen; and a niece Pat, wife of Howard Bowman, Salisbury. Veteran of U.S. Army WWII, 50 year member of Charles E. Kelley Post 112 American Legion. Retired from Sheet Metal Workers local 12 with 40 years of service. Employed 14 years by William Richter, R&M Trucking/Meyersdale truck service. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Private service Tuesday, with Pastor Randall Marburger officiating. Interment Union Cemetery Meyersdale. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Meyersdale Public Library.
