He was born in Concord County, England, June 4, 1858, the son of William and Marie (Badwin) Commons. He had resided near Meyersdale for fifty years. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Jane (Branch) Commons, died a number of years ago. Mr. Commons is survived by these children: Miss Maude, at home; Mrs. John Gruber, Pittsburgh; Charles W., of Carmichael; Harry, Ray, Ralph, of Detroit, Mich.; Byron E., of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Roy, Meyersdale. There are thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Commons home at Romania, near Meyersdale at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, by Rev. John D. Warman, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was in the Union Cemetery in charge of W. C. Price and Son, local morticians. Meyersdale Republican, February 26, 1942
