CHARLES COMPTON

  Charles Compton, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 13, at his home on Sand Patch, R.D.  
The deceased had been in ill health for several years.
  He was born January 10, 1880, in Somerset County, and was the foster son of 
Edward Bittner and Rebecca Martz Bittner, both deceased.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Effie Mankameyer Compton, and the following 
children: Stanley Compton of Markelton; Mrs. Mildred Ebersole of Cumberland, 
Md.; Mrs. Rosalie Crosby of Glencoe; Mrs. Madaline Bittner of Sand Patch, R.D.  
In addition, he is survived by 21 grandchildren.
  Services were conducted Monday at 2:30 from the White Oak Temple Evangelical 
Church, Wittenberg, the Rev. A. F. Richards, pastor, officiating.  Interment in 
the adjoining cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, Meyersdale 
mortician.
