"Honey" Conner, 81, of Stringtown, Hyndman RD 1, died Wednesday, November 1, 1989, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. Born April 11, 1908, in Glassport, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Close) Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Conner, in 1967. She was a former owner and operator of a beauty salon and worked as an aircraft riveter during World War II and later as a seamstress in the Cumberland area. She was a member of the Cooks Mills United Methodist Church, where she served as pianist, and was a worthy past matron of the Rebecca Arnold Chapter 57 Order of the Eastern Star of Mount Savage. She was also past president of the Cumberland Woodmen of the World and a former Girl Scout leader for the Hyndman troop. Surviving are one son, James H. Conner, Bel Air, Md.; one daughter, Ms. Cheryl V. Sill, Marco Island, Fla.; one brother, James Henderson, Quartz Site, Ariz.; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Wilkinson, Beaver Falls; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman. Services were conducted Saturday at l p.m. at the Cooks Mills United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joseph R. Stains officiating.
