He was born on May 4, 1924, to Charles William Connor and Myrtle May James in Friedens. He m a r r i e d E l l i n e Walther on Sept. 15, 1951, in J a c k s o n Heights, NY. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elline Connor, Thousand Palms, Calif.; daughters, Elizabeth Anne Connor, Thousand Palms; and Linda Louise Swan, Oceanside, Calif.; his son, Dr. Charles Peter Connor, San Francisco; sister, Violet Ames, Fort Meyers, Fla.; brother-in-law, Robert Pile, Friedens; and five grandchildren. He is a graduate from Somerset High School in Friedens. He graduated from the University of Michigan and earned a master's degree from Pepperdine University School of Business. George began his business career with General Electric Co. in New York as a sales manager and quickly became the youngest general manager at GE in Cleveland. He served GE for 20 years and later became a vice president for Admiral Corp. in Chicago. He then went on the become President of Teledyne Packard Bell in Los Angeles, and after moving with his family from the Midwest to Westlake Village, Calif., in 1971, George became active in California real estate as a broker and developed Connor Properties. He built several residential properties and then became active in the commercial real estate market. He built the Westlake Auto Center and developed Hampshire Village Properties and, with partners, built the Hampshire Village Shopping Center. George served as manager of the Hampshire Village Center until he retired at age 80 to the Palm Springs area. George was very active over the course of his life in music. He sang with Dr. Galbreath at the University of Michigan on WJR Radio Station. In New York City, he was a soloist at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. George's love of music permeated his life and he shared his rich tenor voice on many occasions. George also had a great interest in horses enjoying them at his Palm Springs ranch and also maintained a family farm in Kentucky. Above and beyond his varied interests, George's spiritual and Christian principals were always at the forefront of his life. George served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation pilot. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Cathedral City, Calif. It is an honor to have the Rev. James Pile, son of Robert Pile, con-duct the service. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Pierce Brothers, Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Desert Mulit-Church Building Fund, 43-875 Washington St., Suite G., Palm Desert, CA 92211. All who knew George were touched by his strong encouraging nature, extreme generosity and exuberance for life. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
