Born Oct. 18, 1917, in Indiana County, a son of the late Olen S.E. and Twyla Reasinger Conrad. Deceased are his first wife, Esther Virginia Nelson, who died Oct. 3, 1975; his second wife, Betty Lou Christner, who died Aug. 20, 2006; a brother, David Conrad and an infant sister, Margaret Conrad. Surviving are two sons, William E. Conrad and wife Sue of Fredericksburg, Va., and James S. Conrad Jr. and wife, Chris of Waynesburg; three stepchildren, Linda Mostoller and husband, Carl of Somerset, Patty Thompson and husband, Reanzo of Somerset and Jay Knupp and wife, Kathleen of Crescent; 16 grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; a brother, Olen Eugene Conrad of Greer, S.C.; and a sister, Louise Kohut of Plymouth, Mich. Mr. Conrad was a 1935 graduate of Clymer High School. He worked as a coal mine superintendent with LTV (Jones and Laughlin) and retired in 1979. Member of the Roof Garden Christian Church, the F &AM 313, the F.O.E. Aerie 1801, the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge in Meyersdale, and the Laurel Hill Sportsman's Club. Private services and burial was held in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, under the directions of the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor.
