"Bill" Conrad, 65, former Democratic County Chairman, was found dead at his residence Thursday evening, Dec. 20. Volunteer ambulance and firemen from Jennerstown entered the residence and discovered Conrad at 10 p.m. Somerset County Coroner Wilbur D. Miller will be performing an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The autopsy was not complete at press time. After serving two terms as county chairman, Conrad had declined to run for a third term in 1978. A testimonial dinner was held last year at the Rockwood Fire Hall, and he was honored by close friends and political allies. Congressman John P. Murtha and president Jimmy Carter had sent, letters of tribute commending him on his integrity and dignity. Conrad served to unify the Democratic party in Somerset County over the years, and was a close friend of the present County Chairman, Nicholas Enoch. Conrad who had served 25 years in the Auditor General's Office, the General State Authority and the Department of Revenue, had majored in business administration at Penn State University. A native of Nanty-Glo, Conrad was a graduate of Ebensburg-Cambria High School, a veteran of WW II and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, a son and a daughter. The Republic, December 24, 1979 [C0860] Wilfred L. "Bill" Conrad, 66, of Jennerstown, died unexpectedly Dec. 19, 1979, at home. He was born April 1, 1913, in Nanty Glo, son of John F. and Rhoda (Griffith) Conrad. He was preceded in death by parents and sister, Mrs. Gladys McGough. He is survived by widow, the former, Elizabeth Bouch; two children, Dr. John W.,; married to the former Barbara Daugherty, San Diego, Calif.; and Barbara, wife of Marco Brookman, Colorado Springs, Colo.; also five grandchildren, William, and Kristin Conrad and, Jason, Cory and Tara Brookman. He was a retired employee, of the Pennsylvania Dept. of Revenue, Inheritance Tax Division with 25 years of service. A Navy veteran of World War II, Somerset County Democratic Chair man for several terms, 32nd degree member of Johnstown Lodge, 538 F. and A.M. Also member of Shrine Lodge, Altoona, Pennsylvania State: Democratic Committee, and various Somerset County Democratic organizations. Friends were received at the Joseph H.
