Cook, 55, partner of Cook & Lintz Memorial Works, Meyersdale, died suddenly at 5 o'clock Thursday morning, July 21, at his home, 301 High street. He was born Nov. 26, 1894, in Meyersdale, a son of the late John W. and Rosetta (Weyerson) Cook. He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle Largent of Meyersdale to whom he was married in 1923; by a son, Samuel Jr., and two daughters, Norma Jean, at home, and Mrs. Elsie Jane Hay, Meyersdale RD 1. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Silas Cook, Meyersdale; Clyde Cook, Ellerslie, Md.; Mrs. J. L. Berkebile, Hooversville; Mrs. Barron Leslie, Toronto, O., and Mrs. William Downie, Elyria, O. Mr. Cook started in the monument business with Albert Lintz 24 years ago. Their place of business is on Beachley street. Mr. Cook, formerly a cutter, was salesman for the company. His death caused by a heart attack, was unexpected, as he had never complained of being ill. Mr. Cook was a member of the American Legion having served in World War I, of the Meyersdale Fire Department and of the Loyal Order of Moose. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the family home, the Rev. L. A. McKinley of First Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery was under the direction of H. R. Konhaus. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Leslie and son Neil of Toronto, Ohio, and son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Delvin Mauk and daughter, Weirton, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Will Downie, son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Downie and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lawson, all of Elyria, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Berkebile of Hooversville; Mrs. Josephine Higgins of Duquesne and Mr. and Mrs. William Day of McKeesport.
