Cooper, 89, of Somerset, died Feb. 12, 1989, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 25, 1899, in Casselman, daughter of the late John Newton and Ida Belle (Metzler) Whipkey. Also preceded by a brother, Ralston. Survived by husband, Herman F. "Coop" Cooper; and stepchildren, Miss Betty M. Cooper and Herman F. Cooper Jr., both of Avon Lake, Ohio; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren. Sister of C. Wilbur Whipkey of Somerset. Retired from George W. Schenck Co. Member of First United Methodist Church. Member for over 50 years of Trinity Chapter No. 138, O.E.S. Former member of both American Legion and VFW auxiliaries. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hanger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Gotjen officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Eastern Star service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
