Corbaci, 72, South Bend, Ind., died Aug. 1, 1994, at his home. Born Oct. 31, 1921, in Meyersdale, son of the late Luigi Corbaci and Carmela (Spataro) Corbaci. He married the former Margarita E. Williams May 1, 1946, in Albany, N.Y. He is also survived by a brother, Anthony Corbaci, Somerset; three nieces and three nephews. He was a retired dean of administration at the University of Notre Dame. He earned two degrees from Duquesne University before moving to Notre Dame in 1950 where he began advanced studies in economics. He received a master's degree in 1951 and he began to teach economics at Notre Dame while studying there and Syracuse University. He became an assistant professor of economics and administrative assistant to the vice president of academic affairs. In 1950, he was promoted to associate professor and named assistant vice president of academic affairs. He was promoted to University Registrar and Assistant Provost in 1970 and assumed the new position of dean of administration the following year. He retired in 1985 and was named associate professor of economics (emeritus). He was a member of the American Association of University Registrars, the Indiana Association of University Registrars, College and University Computer Users Association, University Systems Ex., the Notre Dame and Duquesne Alumni Associations and the BYO Elks. He served with the U.S. Army's 14th Armored Division during World War II. He received the 1973 Frank Martin Award from the University Administrative Computer Association, the 1991 Professional Development Citation from the American Registrary Association and the 1987 Indiana Registrar Distinguished Contribution Plaque. While dean of administration at Notre Dame, he received Duquesne's Distinguished Alumnus Medal in 1978. Notre Dame awarded him a Presidential Citation at its 1972 commencement and the 1992 John Cardinal O'Hara, C.S.C., Award. The funeral was held Thursday at Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Notre Dame, the Rev. Robert Hoffman, Rev. Michael Heppen and the Rev. Robert Austgen, all C.S.C. officiating. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Hickey Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements. Memorials to Hospice of St. Joseph County. Daily American, August 10, 1994 [C0929]
