Born May 8, 1938, in Windber, he was a son of Sarah Madeline Hillegas, Berlin, and the late Miles Kenneth Costello Sr. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Singer, and by a sister, Mae Costello. Survivors include his stepmother, Naomi Redick, Davidsville; Laura Marie (Hordubay) Costello, his wife of 33 years, whom he married Dec. 28, 1968; two children, Marlin Lee Costello Jr., at home, and Marina Kay Fisher and husband Randy E., Fairhope; two grandchildren, Wyatt E. and Blair Marie Fisher, both of Fairhope; and a brother Miles K. Costello Jr., and wife E. Delores (Rowe), Fairhope. Mr. Costello was a former gas pipeline welder. He was a member of the Local 6021 Pipefitters Union for 40 years. He had served in the U.S. Army, 77th Ord. (Gas) Co., where he was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and he qualified as a sharpshooter with the M-14 rifle. Mr. Costello was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, and he was a past caretaker of the church cemetery. He belonged to the Buckets and the New Baltimore and Paradise Valley Sportsmen's Club. He was also a member, although inactive in recent years, of the Masonic Lodge. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m Friday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Donald Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Fairhope. Military honors will be conferred graveside by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to either Lee Regional Hospice, 117 Work Drive, Johnstown, Pa. 15904, or the, Society of P.S.P., Woodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, Md. 21208.
