Couchenour, 82, of Rt. 6, Vincennes, Ind., died May 8, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. He was born Feb. 5, 1900, in Wymona, the son of William and Annie Blew Couchenour. He was ordained in 1930 and received his doctorate in 1946 from Kletzling College. He was an evangelist for 50 years and pastored five years at the Berlin United Methodist Church and four years in Manor. He was president of Vennard College in University Park, Iowa, for eight years, president of Bentleyville Church Camp for 45 years and president of the National Holiness Association for four years and its secretary for another four years. For the past 12 years he had resided in Vincennes and in his semi-retirement served as evangelist to several churches in the vicinity. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hillegas Couchenour; sons, Paul B. Couchenour, of Vincennes and Joseph Couchenour, of Coconut Creek, Fla.; sisters, Alice Soyka, of Louber and Myrtle Stenger, of Washington, Pa.; brothers, Wesley Couchenour, of Ocala, Fla., and Albert Couchenour, of Jamestown, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
