Coughenour died on February 6, 1943, in his 90th year. He was a son of Levi and Elizabeth Shaffer Coughenour, one of a family of 10, seven boys and three girls of which only one is living, Jane, 82. He was a faithful member of the Evangelical Church of Harnedsville for 40 years. In 1862 he was united in marriage to Emma Heinbaugh who died in 1928. To this union nine children were born of which six are living. Mr. Coughenour died on the farm now owned by his son on which he resided and worked for almost 50 years. He was also engaged in the timber and coal business for many years. In 1924 he built a new home on Route 50 and retired from active duty. Funeral services were held in Charles Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence; interment in Addison Cemetery. Rev. Crum of the Evangelical Church was in charge of the service, with Mrs. Ritchie of Addison, assisting. Meyersdale Republican, March 25, 1943
