Born March 9, 1921, in Brothersvalley Township, he is the son of the late Russel Elwood and Verna (Dickey) Countryman. He is survived by wife of 60 years the former M. Marie Leydig and these children: David P and "favorite daughter-in-law" the former Linda Glessner and Patricia C. and "favorite son-in-law" Roger A. "Rocky" Ohler, all of Berlin; grandchildren: Michael Countryman and wife Carol, Michele and Mindi Countryman, Bradley Kreinbrook, Angela and husband David Fullard, Jeremy Ohler and wife Nicole and Jonathan Ohler; great-grandchildren: Russel and Abraham Countryman, Jacob and Luke Fullard; a sister Kathryn C. Bell of Berlin and nephew and niece Douglas and Kathy Bell and son David of Berlin. He was a life-long Brothersvalley Township farmer, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin, member of the Pa. Holstein Association, where he served as the County Director and president, state board director and executive board member and chairman of the county and state breeders sale. He received the PHA Hall of Fame Award and the Pennsylvania Master Farmers Award. He was an honorary member of the Berlin-Brothersvalley FFA, active on various county Republican committees and various agricultural groups. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Deaner Funeral Home in Berlin. Viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin with the Revs. Glenn P. Foster and Ralph G. Landis officiating.
