COURTNEY A 64-year-old native of Meyersdale died in Connellsville State General Hospital, Tuesday, Sept. 5, following an auto accident there. Clell C. Courtney, 64, of 109 W. Fayette St., Connellsville, is believed to have suffered a heart attack while driving his auto. He died about an hour after his car struck a utility pole within the city limits. Born March 13, 1908, in Meyersdale, he was a son of the late James and Catherine Tressler Courtney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Phalin of Meyersdale, in September 1969. He was a retired serviceman for Western Maryland Railroad, a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a past president of the Legion Club, and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Conlon; a step-son, Eugene Conlon of Connellsville; and five grandchildren. Funeral service was held Sept. 8, in Paul G. Fink Funeral Home, Connellsville, with Rev. Clifford Moore officiating. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Meyersdale Republican, September 21, 1972 [C1042]
