COUTER Catherine Margaret Couter, 77, of 10 Broadway Circle, died May 7, 1983, at her residence. Born in Meyersdale, she was the daughter of the late John F. Ayers and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Bonheimer) Ayers. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; a retired office clerk with Quaker City Life Insurance Company, where she worked 31 years; a member of the 1926 graduating class of Allegany High School; Senior Citizens Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 1, Cumberland, Md.; past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Maryland and financial secretary at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Couter, who died in 1974. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Home where services were conducted with the Rev. Richard E. Manning officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. A service was conducted at the funeral home by the Rev. Robert Johnson. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Charles Walker, Freddie Winebrenner, Joseph Cutter, James Cutter, Dale Cutter, Paul Cutter and David Cutter. The Republic, May 12, 1983 [C1045]
