Crawford Sr., 69, of Key Ave., Washington, died Aug. 7, 1988 at 12:55 a.m. in the VA Medical Center Pittsburgh. Mr. Crawford was born July 2, 1919 in Republic. He was the son of Harry L. Crawford who lives in Lemont Furnace. His mother, Josephine (Graham), is deceased. Crawford was a heavy equipment mechanic in the Somerset area retiring in 1984. Was a member of the operating engineers local #66 of Monroeville until he was self-employed. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, the Lions Club, the VFW in Uniontown and a volunteer fireman in the Uniontown area. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and he also received a Purple Heart. Survivors: his wife whom he married Sept. 21, 1940, Mildred V. (Harshman); one son, Harry R. Crawford Jr. of Middletown; four daughters: Beverly (Joseph) Snedeker of Easton; Joan (Gary) Simmons of Eighty-Four; Deborah (Rick) Bruckner of Eighty-Four; Linda (Michael) Gilmore of Washington; 3 brothers: Eugene Crawford of Warren, Mich.; Charles Crawford of Sarasota, Fla.; and Lloyd Crawford of Meadowbrook, N.J.; 3 sisters: Margaret Bowers of Fairchance; Elsie Crayton of Bayonet Point, Fla.; Ada McNatt of Lemont Furnace; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister died in infancy. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9 in the Warco Funeral Home, Inc. 336 Wilson Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco funeral director, where services will be held Wed. Aug. 10 at noon with Rev. Donald Gaffney officiating. Burial in Layfette Memorial Park.
