Born Dec. 4, 1902, in Somerset County, daughter of the late Elmer and Dora Berg Barclay. A graduate of Indiana State Normal School. Former school teacher at the Acosta School in Somerset County. She was an active member of the Mt. Nebo Church of God, where she was a member and past president of the Ladies Aid Society, a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member and past president of the W.C.S.C. Survived by a daughter, Mildred Grimm of Champion, a son, Glenn Critchfield and wife Sandy of Champion, and a daughter-in-law Regina Porterfield Critchfield, with whom she resided. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive, along with 2 sisters, Sarah Gross of Rockwood and Idella Ansell of Scullton, Pa. Preceded in death by her husband, Arden T. Critchfield, on Feb. 13, 1977; a son, William Calvin Critchfield, on Jan. 1, 1999; sisters Kathryn Pletcher and Mary Louise Moore and brothers Edmund, Charles, Ray, Harold, George and Amos Geary. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at The Clyde Brooks Funeral Home on Rt. 711 at Melcroft, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Wendell Grimm officiating. Committal and Interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. Daily American, January 5, 1999 [C1192]
