Malsberry, Mr. Roy Critchfield and son, Dwight, of this place have returned to their homes from Wheeling, W.Va., where they attended the funeral of their brother and uncle, Mr. James E. Critchfield. Mr. Critchfield, 60, stogie-maker employed by the M. Marsh & Sons Company, died at the Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wednesday afternoon, October 23. In ill health for the past year, Mr. Critchfield was removed to the hospital ten days before his death. Born in Rockwood, January 29, 1880 a son of Austin and Ellen Putnam Critchfield, he spent his early life here. In 1912 he located in Wheeling where he had since resided in North Wheeling. Mr. Critchfield was a member of the First Lutheran Church. surviving are his wife, Margaret Stewart Critchfield to whom he was married in Marietta, Ohio in 1912; three daughters, Miss Charlotte Critchfield at home; Mrs. William Kennedy of Wheeling; and Mrs. Herman Carpenter of Marietta; two sons, Richard and William Critchfield both at home; one sister, Mrs. Earl A. Malsberry of this place, two brothers, Roy Critchfield of Rockwood and Robert Critchfield of Johnstown. A granddaughter also survives. The body was removed to the Altmeyer funeral home where services were conducted Saturday afternoon. Interment in Greenwood cemetery. November 1, 1940
