Born Nov. 2, 1894 in Ursina, son of the late James A. and Elizabeth M. Critchfield. Survived by his wife, the former Anna Blubaugh and three children: Ambrose of Fishertown; Mary Jane Zehner of Confluence; and, Max J. of Johnstown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters. Margaret J. French of Seabrook, Texas; and Betty Bower of Confluence. Preceded in death by one son, Rex. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a rural mail carrier with the U. S. Post Office from 1920 to 1955. Member of the Pennsylvania Fish Commission from 1940 to 1947 and from 1955 to 1965. Served with the U. S. Army from 1917 to 1919. Member of the Turkeyfoot Game and Fish Association of which he was president for 25 years. Member of the Somerset County Sportsman's Club of which he was a delegate to the Southwest Division of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen for 25 years. Member of the Rex Critchfield American Legion Post. Friends will be received after 1 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence. Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Confluence, Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. McCurtis Allison officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
